April 12, 2009 - KANSAS CITY, MO. - In its quest to continue promoting the use of portable storage containers across multiple industries, The National Portable Storage Association (NPSA) attended the Constructor Expo 2009 in San Diego in March.
"We were thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase the benefits of portable storage use in the construction industry," said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director of the NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry. "The NPSA has long worked with construction industry professionals to help offer a safe place to store tools and offices for construction managers on site."
The Constructor Expo is the must-attend event for construction industry professionals interested in the latest technology and innovations in equipment, tools, products and services. The Associated General Contractors of America, the largest and oldest national construction trade association in the United States, organizes the annual event.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau estimates that $1 billion worth of construction equipment and tools are stolen each year. What’s more, construction theft reports to insurance companies have increased by 10 percent to 20 percent each year since 1996, according to the Insurance Service Office. Portable storage can prevent the theft of construction tools, which may otherwise end up for discount sale at local flea markets.
Beyond securing tools, portable storage also offers a low-cost alternative to erecting temporary office facilities that will later be torn down. Portable storage containers can be easily modified to add roll-up doors, windows, electrical outlets and even electricity, making them an ideal, secure office space. When the building is complete, the container can move on to the next job or, if rented, be returned to the vendor.
