Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel To The Rescue Amid Bangkok Turmoil

Bangkok’s Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel was overrun with guests stranded by the recent shut down of the airport by anti-government protesters, but despite the adversity, the Accor brand came through with flying colors.

(1888PressRelease) December 26, 2008 - The renowned Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel handled itself admirably amid the recent airport chaos in the Thai capital, welcoming as many guests as possible and providing top-notch service despite the flood of anguished visitors, France-based Accor Group says.

The 612-suite hotel was jam-packed with stranded air travel passengers from around the world but the situation was handled extremely well by the professional staff, says Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel.

The Suvarnabhumi Airport was under put siege by anti-government protesters last month, stranding an estimated 300,000 visitors there. The turmoil gave Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel a chance to put on display its fine establishment and service amid difficult times with so many people seeking a place to stay.

Facing adversity and meeting the challenge is nothing new to the Accor brand – one of the busiest airport hotels in the world. Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel was previously chosen as one of the three “Best Airport Hotels in Asia Pacific for Meeting & Conference” from CEI Asia Pacific in 2007 and “Best Airport Hotel” in the TravelWeekly (Asia) Industry Award 2008.

The anti-government demonstrators gave up their airport occupation earlier in December and business has returned to normal as the Christmas holiday approaches, the hotel says. The Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel staff went the extra mile during the crisis, and thankful visitors heaped praise upon the Novotel employees when the siege finally came to an end after more than a week.

Novotel Suvarnabhumi was Accor Group's second major airport hotel in Asia following the opening of Novotel Citygate near Hong Kong International Airport. Since its grand opening in September 2006, the four-star Novotel Suvarnabhumi hasn't disappointed.

Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel caters to Bangkok's growing meeting and event market with more than 2,400 square meters of conference space, including a stunning ballroom for as many as 1,000 people, and six additional meeting and function rooms.

From the airport, the hotel is a pleasant 10-minute walk through the underground tunnel that links the two buildings together. At this convenient location, Novotel Suvarnabhumi is an ideal place to replenish, lounge, or while away the time before boarding the next flight.
