  • (1888PressRelease) April 27, 2016 - The 6th annual MilSatCom Asia-Pacific conference (26th - 27th May 2016, Singapore) will discuss the strategic role of the US in Asia-Pacific and how regional SatCom engagement helps satisfy overall goals. It will also review the latest developments in national MilSatCom and space programmes.

    Colonel James Bortree, 607th Air Operations Center, Osan Air Base, USAF will be giving his keynote address on: "How the 607th Air Operations Center (607 AOC) satisfy the full spectrum of C4 capabilities for U.S Pacific Command and U.S forces Korea operations".

    Colonel James Bortree will discuss how to ensure adaptability to provide effective C4 in response to emergency military and humanitarian operations, as well as ongoing regional allied interoperability and collaboration to enhance space capability and protect space assets in response to growing external threats will be presented.

    Also, Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Turpin, Chief of Asia-Pacific Strategy, US Department of Defense will be speaking on: "Optimising disaster relief response across Asia-Pacific with U.S. space assets".

    Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Turpin will be presenting the recent trends in disaster relief across Asia-Pacific and to what extent is this shaping current and future space requirements. Also how the U.S. Military provides support to nations impacted by disasters and how to overcome the shortfalls in the international community's ability to respond to and mitigate the impact of disasters.

    Furthermore, the challenge of the new maritime order in East Asia will be presented by Dr James Boutilier, Special Advisor, International Engagement, Department of National Defence Canada.

    Matthew Child, Head of Government Sector, Eutelsat will be speaking on: "Commercial SatComs as an integral component of defence communications planning".
