June 07, 2007 - Atlanta, GA – Mom Entrepreneur Janine Lambiase (www.schnullikidz.com) is on a mission to raise $2200 for Breast Cancer through the sales of her hand-made wooden pacifier holders, jewelry, and imported wooden toys.
The full amount from each sale (prices have been increased) will go towards sponsoring Janine as she takes part in the 3 day, 60 mile walk for Breast Cancer in October.
The net proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust, which funds breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.
When asked why she chose to sell wooden items, Janine said that she grew up surrounded by wooden toys as a child in Germany, and credits her exposure to them as the reason for her current business.
She understands the value and benefits that come from the use of them, which is why her online store, Schnullikidz.com, only sells items that are non-toxic, hygienic, saliva proof, and incredibly easy to clean.
Children love to put things into their mouths, and conventional toys can actually risk your child’s health.
According to Pamela Lundquist and Aisha Ikramuddin from HealthyKids.org, “The worst plastic, from both an environmental and health standpoint, is polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, commonly known as vinyl. It is found in a wide variety of products – from food packaging to children’s toys, plumbing and building materials to medical devices – but in every case alternatives to it exist.
PVC is also commonly used in teethers and soft squeeze toys for young children, beach balls, bath toys, dolls and other products, such as knapsacks, raincoats, and umbrellas.
Health concerns for children who play with soft PVC toys center once again on the toxic softeners known as phthalates. In May, 2001, Greenpeace released a report which examined the level of phthalates and other hazardous chemicals in children’s products and household items and found high levels of phthalates in many cases.
Janine says, “Parents are becoming more and more concerned about the products they buy for their children, and the demand for safer alternatives has grown by leaps and bounds.
From now until August, parents will have the opportunity to provide safer options for their precious ones, while supporting Breast Cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.
What could be better then that?”

About Janine: In August of 2005, Janine and her family made the move from Germany to the United States for her husband’s job.
After countless people approached her to ask about the cute wooden pacifier holder that was attached to her baby all the time, she realized that there might be a business in it.
Today, she is a work at home mom to 2 children, and hand-crafts most of her items from home. For more information on how to purchase her non-toxic and saliva proof products to support her fundraising efforts, contact Janine Lambiase
