January 17, 2007 - The three-day event held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 5-7, gave ACE Hardware storeowners the opportunity to attend business education seminars, network with other ACE Hardware franchise owners, and visit the booths of national vendors—like Scotts®, Weber® grills—to check out the latest line of products for 2007.
“At the fall shows, we typically buy the products we know we’re going to need in the winter and spring such as windshield washer fluid, ice melt, Scott’s lawn care products and Weber grills,” said Rick Taylor, third generation owner of Taylor Lumber. “
Besides savings, Taylor Lumber’s affiliation with ACE Hardware gives the store access to higher quality items from vendors. As an ACE co-op member, Taylor Lumber automatically receives a Scott’s “lawn pro” dealer designation. This allows them to sell higher quality Scotts products, like the popular four-step program. Other stores, including mega chains such as Lowe's, Home Depot, and Wal-Mart, may sell Scotts products but cannot sell the actual four-step product—only Scotts “lawn pro” dealers, like Taylor Lumber, can.
“Besides being able to offer top-of-the-line products, our ACE affiliation gives us access to training and education from our vendors both at convention and during the year,” said Taylor. “So when you come into the store asking about a Weber grill or Scott’s lawn care product, you’re getting an answer from somebody who’s received training from the vendor. That can save customers a lot of time, money, and aggravation.”
