October 20, 2008 - According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the average height for adult females and males in the United States is 5 feet 3.8 inches and 5 feet 9.2 inches respectively, making OnSpeedDating’s upcoming event anything but “average”.
On Tuesday, October 28th OnSpeedDating will host an exclusive speed dating event at 310 Bowery Bar catering to NYC’s “non-vertically challenged” women 5’7”+ and men 6’0” and taller. “I’m originally from Texas, where everything, especially the men are bigger”, explains OnSpeedDating Co-Founder, Amber Soletti. Tall men in NYC are hard to come by, and when you factor in a majority of NYC men 5’9” and 1/2 seem to be rounding up to 6’0”, the need for this type of event becomes quite apparent and trust me, we’ll be measuring at the door.”
Single New Yorker Susan Mezo, 30, plans on attending Tuesday’s event. “I heard about it from a girlfriend and immediately said, ‘where do I sign up’? I’m five-foot-nine, six-foot with heels and have learned over the years that you’re lucky if you can eventually teach them to leave the toilet seat down, but height you definitely can’t teach.”
Tuesday’s event costs $20.00, much more affordable than the majority of speeddating events that can set you back as much as to $45.00 and a small investment for gaining access to an oasis of tall people, one of which could potentially be your mate. Drink specials are also part of the OnSpeedDating.com package and offered to participants at each venue. Expect to see only “tall drink” specials on the menu for Tuesday, jokes OnSpeedDating Co-Founder, Carmine DiRe.
