  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) December 20, 2013 - Hank Lovvorn, VP/Director of Operations at The Presbyterian Homes, Inc. (PHI), a faith-based, not-for-profit organization offering three distinctive Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) in North Carolina, announced the release of a white paper entitled Eight Essentials for Successful Retirement Living: A CCRC Model.

Eight Essentials for Successful Retirement Living is based on qualitative research utilizing industry data, focus groups with residents and interviews with experts in senior housing. Research showed that there are eight critical areas that lead to a more satisfying and rewarding life after retirement: freedom and independence, peace of mind, financial security, social community, lifelong learning, fitness and nutrition, sense of purpose, and safety and security. The white paper explores the critical areas and how they relate to finding success in retirement living. The white paper discusses the positive impact the eight critical areas have on an individual, ways to incorporate them into daily life, and how the CCRC model supports them.

"This white paper supports our mission of providing senior adults with caring and high quality services in support of adults' physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being," said Lovvorn. "It's our goal to continue to understand and meet the needs of today's retirees just as our first community did when it opened in 1952."

Hummingbird Senior Studies, a division of Hummingbird Creative Group, conducted the focus groups, authored, designed and published the white paper.
