December 04, 2007 - Many people have difficulties reading printed text, either through dyslexia, sight impairments or because English is not their first language. While their computer can help them out at home or in the office, they still need access to the printed word while they are out and about. CapturaTalk provides a smart, high-tech solution.
The new website provides an online demonstration of CapturaTalk so visitors can quickly see how easy it is to use, visit www.capturatalk.com/demos.asp. It will also update them on new features and free upgrades as they become available.
CapturaTalk software identifies and extracts text from both digital photographs and electronic documents and then uses high-quality digital speech by Acapela, to read it out loud. Currently the software is exclusive to the HTC TyTN and TyTN II Pocket PC. The phone can be used with the SIM card from any network provider but offers many additional facilities, including a sliding keyboard and Windows mobile software. CapturaTalk features large, easily understood icons and the ability to magnify text up to four times its original size.
This innovation is an exciting joint venture between iansyst Ltd, specialist providers of technology for people with dyslexia and other disabilities, and Danish company Motto-Captura, which prides itself on developing mobile solutions that empower people.
Neil Milliken, Business Unit Manager at iansyst, said: “People lead increasingly busy lives and spend more time away from their home or desk so require technology which goes with them. CapturaTalk is ground-breaking technology. It is the first truly portable solution for people who have difficulties reading text. It will be ideal for people who struggle with reading and have dyslexia. CapturaTalk is a solution that optimises the Windows mobile phone technology to ensure that every single person can have equal access to information.”
