June 28, 2008 - Steve Mitchell has accepted an offer of his own television show/series on the soon to be launched Edge Media TV channel to be aired on Sky and Freesat with Virgin Media to follow.
The new series will be called ‘Mitchell’s Wyrd World’ and will see the film maker travelling throughout Britain, observing, reporting and experiencing the world of weird and wonderful events and happenings and talking to those involved.
The offer came during discussions with Edge Media TV, based in Milton Keynes, over screening Mitchell’s film ‘Dragons and Rings’, currently distributed through Reality Entertainment USA. As part of the deal, all Reality Films documentaries will be screened on Edge Media TV for the first time on British television.
‘With mainstream television tending to marginalise alternative and controversial programmes, or downgrade them into the field of entertainment, Edge Media TV are providing a huge opportunity for both solid researchers and commentators in this field to air their views and findings’ said Mitchell.
Mitchell already plans excursions into the world of alternative healing, ghost hunting, paganism and British folk customs, looking seriously at their scientific and psychological basis as well as talking candidly to their exponents and believers.
In his own words, Mitchell says he’d ‘like to focus on both the unorthodox and marginal, with a clear head for facts, and yet be able to portray sympathy for the belief system of those involved whilst documenting the eccentricity of the British people. Expect something unconventional and yet informing.’
Edge Media TV will launch in July, with Steve Mitchell already booked to guest on the ‘Gardiner’s World’ chat show with Philip Gardiner. The channel has already drawn support and interest from many areas, nationwide, so if you'd like your event to appear on the series then let us know.
