April 25, 2007 - Student fees have risen steadily through the last few years or so, it seems that in gaining tommorows professionals we loan them so much money that they cannot leave the country.
This new auction site is one students attempt at helping others cut costs on required textbooks. I have completed some research into this field and found that the average price for a textbook to be around £40, and students need around 6 of these each year.
The idea behind the site is that students can auction off their old books at the end of the year when they have finished with them, selling them to students in the academic year below them, and purchasing from the academic year above them, thus creating a chain throughout the academic years. The chain will only be broken when a new edition of the book is published. However this should not be much of an issue as previous editions and generally still relevant to the courses taken.
The site is still in its infancy at the moment, and needs users to succed. So please inform anyone you know who is themselves a student or has contact with students and pass on the address of this great site.
