New Mobile Service For People On The Fly!

Until recently, small screens and busy content have made many websites a burden to experience on mobile devices. New technology is not on the way. It has arrived. Many of us just aren't aware of it yet.

(1888PressRelease) April 04, 2007 - We always seem to be on the go, on the run, on the move, busy, busy, busy…The mobile crowd has embraced browsing the internet via cell phones, PDA’s, and Blackberries while “on the fly.” Even gamers can surf their favorite sites on today’s handheld systems. But this comes with a cost. Most sites are designed to look and display good on an average sized screen. Sure, the site is informative and flashy on your P.C. or laptop, but what about the smaller screens? How long does it take to load and how much scrolling do you have to go through to navigate? Enter: The “.Mobi Age.”

Don’t worry if you haven’t heard of .mobi before. You’re not alone. .Mobi is a web address extension, similar to .com, .net, and .org. It is what is considered a “TLD” or top level domain. It was just introduced last September. What is the difference between viewing a .com (or any other TLD) site vs. a .mobi site? The mobi site, if compliant with regulations, will be designed to fit on a smaller screen with faster loading times and a better overall viewing experience for the consumer.

Mark Bennett, founder of Idea Earth, see’s .mobi becoming very popular in the near future. “The cell phone has become such a staple in most of our lives. As phones evolve with technology, and web browsing on mobile devices becomes affordable to most of us, we’ll see an incredible amount of mobile browsing”, Bennett states. He’s putting his money where his mouth is. Bennett has just launched 2 .mobi sites that allow users to bring up information they might be looking for while out and about.

His first effort, Pizzaz.mobi., is a pizza search site. If you’re away from a PC or laptop and get a craving for a delicious pizza pie, you can now simple type in Pizzaz.mobi into your mobile browser, input your location by city or zip code, and retrieve all relevant information to Pizza places close to you. You can click on the phone number to be connected and the next thing you know, a hot pie is coming your way. Or, if you’re looking to eat in, click on the map for directions. Cool stuff indeed!

His next site, OnFly.mobi allows users to search for just about anything they can think of. Once you get past the uber-cool, frog-with-fly-in-site logo that greets you, you can choose from the dropdown menu to look for taxis, limos, restaurants, ATM’s, auto repair shops, movie theaters, locksmiths or beauty salons. If that’s not what you’re looking for, you can do a custom search for just about any service or product out there. It’s easy to use and addictive.

Both sites are currently featured in the mTLD featured sites showcase. In order to be considered for this, your site must meet stringent qualifying coding standards that allow users to have an easy, fast, mobile-friendly experience.

You do not need to sign up for the service. It’s provided, free of charge. Not bad in today’s money hungry world! If that’s not enough, there’s a link on both sites to take you to other great mobi sites as well.

“Idea Earth” is currently working on several more mobi projects” Bennett states. “We’re really excited to bring these services to the next generation of mobile browsing.”

Idea Earth, founded by Bennett in 2006, is a Jacksonville based company offering creative consulting products and services designed to be both practical and fun.
