May 20, 2007 - When reading articles about "Long Island" then New York, the Hamptons and Great Peconic Bay may spring to mind. If they do, you may be suprised to learn there is another one.
The "other" Long Island is an 80 mile stretch of Paradise, only 4 miles at its widest part, it is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the World.
This place has long been noted by select and refined travellers as a "quiet getaway", with things seeming a little old fashioned, quaint, quiet, friendly and very relaxed.
Its rolling hills and dramatic ocean views are quite simply breathtaking.
Located in the southern Bahamas, the place seems to have been lost in time and forgotten, until now.
PSG Ltd, a Bahamian development company, have plans to turn the quiet, sleepy town of Stella Maris, an area on the northern Long Island, into the Capital of the southern Bahamas.
Plans of the project, which include a new marina and golf development, have been submitted to the Bahamian government for consideration.
Should PSG Ltd be granted government approval, they are ready to begin work on this 1000 acre site immediately.
Plans include an enlarged marina, yacht basin and canal complex, a championship golf course, and an enlarged runway and upgraded airport.
It may be worth noting that neither land, homesites or building lots are available for sale at the present time, however if permissions are given, there could well be a stampede.
If you fancy the yachting life, get down there fast. For news concerning this development visit www.portstgeorge.net
