August 11, 2008 - James Christian Martin Group, in association with the technology firm, JCMconnect.com - has launched a new initiative to bring down the cost of computing, and enhance peoples everyday computing experience. The new initiative, called Arcadia Planitia - promotes the use and adoption of free open source software in the home and office.
There are many free, and arguably better alternatives to expensive commercial software. A notable example is the OpenOffice suite, which is free - and feature-wise is comparable to that of Microsoft Office. Arcadia Planitia's main goal is to get more home and office computers running Linux. Linux is a free operating system, which is also free to copy and redistribute.
Many businesses worldwide are already saving thousands of pounds by switching to Linux.
This initiative will increase the adoption of open source technologies in both home and office environments.
