October 07, 2009 - Fabbers Market.com is a new website which has been developed to connect the world of design with the world of manufacturing on a global scale.
It's very much web 2.0, which among other things means that its powerful business tools can be used for free by all users!
The website allows designers to source, qualify and obtain quotes from suppliers who can fabricate and manufacture their designs, and enables suppliers to promote their services and win new business.
Grant Brayshaw, co-founder says, "There's a world of design out there and a world of manufacturing capability, but until now no great online channel where the two come together. We recognise the potential of the internet as a tool to bring people together and we're focused on using it to do just that for these two communities."
Fabbers Market sets itself apart by providing suppliers and designers, engineers and architects not just with a place to profile their services but also with the smart and free online tools to help them save time and grow their business.
Kieran O'Mahony, co-founder says, "Much of our focus is on helping designers to source and qualify quality suppliers. Our profiles allow suppliers to prove their quality by uploading referees and references, customer endorsements, multimedia files, they can publish their latest news and we encourage the posting of general comments. And we've got even more powerful functionality to help in this respect coming soon!"
One of the very useful and free tools is the quote management system, which allows designers to manage quotes submitted by suppliers on their design jobs. The great thing is that because the service is free, designers can also easily invite their own suppliers who might not already be on Fabbers Market and use it to obtain quotes from them.
Designers also have the flexibility to seek quotes publicly or privately and they can also protect their IP and sensitive files with NDA.
Communication is encouraged via the live instant messenger chat system that allows designers and suppliers to conveniently start chatting with each other, getting answers to any questions they might have without emailing or picking up the phone.
Sel-Vin Kuik, co-founder says, "The exciting thing is that the project doesn't end here. We've got big plans and we will be delivering great new features and services that will add tremendous value to the design and manufacturing communities."
Keep an eye on this one, Fabbers Market.com could be one of the more interesting success stories of the next 12 months as designers and manufacturers catch on to the unique way it brings them together online.
