November 19, 2007 - NEW YORK Nov. - Kimber, lead singer of national recording artists Pushboxx, announced her retirement from the music industry earlier today. Kimber has been a staple in the New England music scene for well over twenty years and has chosen to step down and enjoy some quiet time in Connecticut where she and boyfriend/drummer Marc Dupuis currently reside.
Using Hartford, CT as their home base, Pushboxx got together to record their initial demo in 2002 and have since developed a cult following. They spent the last couple of years playing up and down the east coast before signing a record deal with Backstreet Records to record their latest CD in Ithaca, New York (2005). Their ballad single, “Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye” was released to radio in late September 2006, and experienced extensive airplay throughout the United States and beyond. They welcomed guitarists Joe Bastura and Duke Gunn to the band in late 2006 and in 2007 were a part of the Jagermeister Music Tour featuring Stone Sour, Lacuna Coil and Shadows Fall.
While the announcement comes amidst a small weekend club date tour, Pushboxx has no intentions of canceling any forthcoming appearances. They will perform into the summer of 2008 with an upcoming show at the legendary Toad’s Place in New Haven, Connecticut on December 9th. The band will be entering the studio early in December of 2007 to record a final mix of roughly five songs. These songs will be released to the public on an undisclosed date in 2008.
While no public comment has yet been made by Kimber, she has confirmed rumors of an interest in pursuing musical theatre in the future.
