New Device Provides Security for Senior Citizens Outside the Home
SurePod's third-generation device, the 250EA, combines two-way talk and GPS in a small pod for ease of use and mobility.
- (1888PressRelease) February 22, 2012 - SurePod has announced the release of its third generation PERS (Personal Emergency Response System) device, the SurePod 250EA. This latest device release features improved technology such as SurePod's proprietary LocalTouch Sensor ™, providing more accurate GPS signal locks.
The SurePod 250EA device enables seniors to call for help with the push of a button. Unlike traditional PERS, seniors are not tied to a base station. They can leave their homes and are able to call for help in an emergency using the SurePod 250EA.
"SurePod is much better than a cell phone," states senior care expert, Dan Pahos, owner of Home Instead Senior Care, Birmingham AL. "Seniors often don't have cell phones and those that do struggle to use them. In an emergency, would you rather have your grandma try to dial 911 on a complicated phone, or get immediate help by just pushing a button?"
The device weighs only a few ounces and can be worn or carried by the senior while performing activities such as going to the grocery store, doctor's office or pharmacy.
"SurePod helps seniors live independently, while giving their families peace of mind when they are not physically available to care for them," says Julia Ko, co-founder of SurePod. "We have had tremendous response to our product and service from the eldercare community, dealers and brand name OEMs. We are very excited about these nationwide partnerships."
SurePod's built-in GPS can reduce the time needed to locate seniors and dispatch assistance. "Faster response times mean better outcomes," says Steven D. Leung, co-founder of the company. "Our mission at SurePod is to give seniors freedom with security. Other systems keep seniors at home within 150 to 600 feet of a base station. SurePod gives seniors the freedom to visit friends and go to the store, with the security of knowing they have help at the touch of a button."
The SurePod 250EA is currently available through dealers nationwide.
