New Development In African American Rhinoplasty Proves To Preserve Ethnicity And Increase Self Esteem

(1888PressRelease) December 19, 2006 - (NEW YORK, New York, December 19, 2006) – Dr. Oleh Slupchynskyj, Director of The Aesthetic Facial Surgery Institute of New York and New Jersey, has developed a custom nasal “S” implant, which is the Dr. states “is unique in that no other implant on the market addresses African American patients. This is common, but not limited to, African Americans and Non-Anglics.” The “S” implant was designed to augment the nasal frontal angle and dorsum of the nasal bone, thus offering a superior alternative to other and more common forms of nasal augmentation material available today.

Dr. Slupchynskyj recently completed a retrospective study using his custom “S” implant to evaluate the satisfaction of African American patients with nasal dorsal augmentation. Statistics found that, 1) patients were seeking not to change ethnicity, but achieve facial harmony and, 2) the majority of patients felt an increase in self esteem post-surgically along with a significant preservation of ethnic characteristics. Dr. Slupchynskyj has been invited to speak and present his findings at the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery’s 23 Annual Scientific Meeting in January, 2007.
