New Book Proposes New Treatment for Brain – Injured Children

Snowdrop Child Development Consultants announce the publication of a new book by their founder, Andrew Brereton.

(1888PressRelease) September 03, 2009 - This book is intended to give hope to parents whose children have suffered brain - injury. It addresses some of the many complex difficulties which are faced by those families. From initial diagnosis through to treatment, it goes further than explanations, it offers solutions.

It not only explains the consequences that brain injury has for children in the major areas of their development, it also demonstrates why the major therapies of the past have failed. It proposes a radical new treatment for brain injured children based on what we know about the plasticity of the brain and what we understand about how children think and learn. It also gives evidence of it's success with case reviews of the children who are being successfully treated.

Andrew Brereton gave up his career as a chemist when his first son, Daniel was born with catastrophic brain – injuries due to medical negligence. Through all the years looking after his son and traveling to many ‘alternative’ centres throughout the world, Andrew also studied and gained many qualifications in psychology and child development. He also gained experience as a parent which combined with that knowledge, gives him a unique insight into the real difficulties faced by families of brain - injured children.

In 2008, five years after his son died from a series of brainstem strokes, - an accident waiting to happen which no type or amount of therapy could have changed, Andrew established ’Snowdrop, a child development consultancy which provides programmes of developmental stimulation for brain – injured children’ The aim of Snowdrop is to take all the knowledge and experience amassed over the years and to utilise it for the benefit of other children and families. Already Snowdrop is treating the developmental problems of children both in the UK and internationally, with some remarkable success.

If your child has received a diagnosis of brain – injury, or cerebral palsy, autism, Asperger's syndrome, dyspraxia or any other diagnosis which is a consequence of brain injury, then Snowdrop may be able to help you.

The book can be purchased by visiting the Snowdrop website.
