New Book: CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE WORST KIND - A Tell-All Memoire for Movie Buffs and Music Fans

Internationally Acclaimed Conductor/Composer Phillip Lambro reveals intimate portraits of Hollywood’s movie-making elite, including Steven Speilberg and Alfred Hitchcock

(1888PressRelease) September 14, 2008 - Los Angeles, CA --- Phillip Lambro has earned a stellar reputation in the worlds of both symphonic music and film scoring after more than 50 years as a composer and passionate advocate for innovation in contemporary music.

In the ‘60s Lambro hung out in New York’s hedonistic society with Salvador Dali, Sylvia Plath and his teacher Maestro Leopold Stokowski as his career straddled the boundary between Hollywood film music and pieces for the concert hall.

Lambro’s first brush with Hollywood was with Frank Sinatra in 1964 while he was Music Director for the United Nations, but his next encounter was with film director Roman Polanski who pursued and engaged Lambro to write the score for Chinatown and producer Robert Evans who pulled the score at the last minute. Lambro felt he never fit in with the Hollywood establishment and he suffered for it.

This is a story about overcoming the social pitfalls of Hollywood, learning to triumph in the face of failure and remaining true to yourself.

Some of the celebrities featured in the book are Steven Spielberg, Roman Polanski, Jack Nicholson, Robert Evans, John Cassavetes, Peter Bogdanovich, Salvador Dali, Frank Sinatra, Jack Benny, Huntington Hartford, Howard Hughes, John F. Kennedy, Sylvia Plath, Harold Lloyd, Richard Nixon, Alfred Hitchcock, , Antonio Carlos Jobim, Maestro Leopold Stokowski, Santiago Rodriguez (the Van Cliburn 1981 Medalist), Philippe Entremont, Gaetano Delogu, John F. Kennedy, Errol Flynn, Omar Sharif, John Derek, , Jules Stein, Lew Wasserman, James Mason and more.
