Cheryl Sternman Rule has been writing professionally for newspapers and magazines since 2004. She is a contributing editor at EatingWell magazine. In addition, her work has appeared in Health, Vegetarian Times, Delicious Living, Bay Area Parent, the San Jose Mercury News, Metro Silicon Valley, the Santa Cruz Sentinel, and the alumni magazines of Haverford College, Hamilton College, and the University of Michigan. Cheryl has also developed recipes for the American Heart Association.
Cheryl's new blog is a mix of recipes, reviews, and observations on food in the bay area and around the world. She has recent posts on the growing "locavore" movement, the sorry state of school food in California, the growth in sucrose-sweetened baby formula, legislation to post calorie counts in fast food chains, and the ways our "food landscape is inextricably intertwined with race and class."
In addition to her commentary, she offers original recipes for dishes like brown butter nut bars, lemon-ricotta waffles, almond-scented chocolate chip banana bread, cinnamon white chocolate chip brownies, crepes with cannoli cream, cherry cream scones, and fried baby artichokes with parmesan and lemon.
Cheryl is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, the San Francisco Professional Food Society, and Better School Food. She is also the winner of the 2008 Greenbrier Award given by the Symposium for Professional Food Writers.
