October 04, 2008 - New segments are being added every Monday and then re-aired through the week. The show hosts of Airplane Geeks are Max Flight and Courtney Miller.
Max Flight has been an engine guy in the aviation industry for over 30 years, and is the creator of the Thirty Thousand Feet aviation directory. That site started back in 1996 as a single short page, and has grown (some would say pathologically) to include links to a huge number of aviation resources that span commercial, military, and general aviation, as well as radio control, aircraft modeling, kites, and heck, almost anything made by man that flies. Along with the companion Thirty Thousand Feet Blog, Max authors the Travel Security Blog which focuses on airline and airport security.
Max is proof that you don’t need to be a pilot to be an airplane geek. Which is good because he’s too cheap to ever get a pilot’s license, let alone hold any financial interest in an airplane more expensive than a desktop display model.
Courtney Miller, on the other hand, is both a pilot and an airplane geek. With 10 years of aviation experience, including 5 years in the right seat of a CRJ-700, Courtney now works for an air freight company we’ll only refer to as “Yellow.” In addition to his countless duties flying a desk, he also manages the Airline Empires community, the Th3scoop aviation news resource, and the Airline Empires Blog. Routinely biting off more than he can chew, Courtney also edits and produces The Airplane Geeks, and participates in another non-aviation podcast at TheGuysPodcast.com. For those of you as infatuated with web 2.0 as Courtney, you can follow him on Twitter at Miller22.
