September 26, 2007 - Difficult questions plague many budding entrepreneurs: How do I get started? How do I raise money? Is this really a good idea? Can I risk my placement? In entrepreneurship there are no right answers. But it does help to have some place where you can get answers and advice on some of the most fundamental concerns of starting and building a venture.
The National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) has launched a new set of programs - the NEN Catalyst Programs to directly support students interested in entrepreneurship. NEN in not new to students – it is already working with more than 250 top academic institutes across India helping them build world class entrepreneurship programs on their campuses.
The Catalyst Programs are designed for anyone who wants to turn dreams into reality. For budding entrepreneurs this means on-ground and online support through practical and real world information; access to experts, skill building activities and networking on a range of topics that play out in a new venture life cycle. The programs will help new entrepreneurs understand the key issues involved and the implications for them.
In August 2007, NEN Online launched with the venture capital topic. Everything from what is venture capital, the investment process, VC business model, straight talks on what VCs look for in a business, would they back first time entrepreneurs, negotiation terms in deals, in-depth analysis on valuation to online ask the expert sessions with leading VCs in India.
Some of the topics to look forward to in the coming months include: Angel Investing; Idea Generation; Opportunity Evaluation; Building a Team; Getting Started and Product Development to name a few. What’s more --- you can debate with your peers and even ask the contributing experts on all topics yourself!
The idea behind this is to enable young people who want to be entrepreneurs to make more informed decisions, and most of all, be prepared themselves for the challenges that lie ahead.
