November 02, 2009 - The playout facility rebuild includes a range of Harris integrated broadcast products, including ADC™ playout automation, Panacea™ routers, 6800+™ core processing and networking products, Predator II™ multiviewers, the X75™ all-in-one processor, the Inscriber® TitleOne™ broadcast graphics system, the IconStation™ channel branding system, the IconMaster™ master control switcher, the IconLogo™ on-air channel branding system and the NetVX™ video networking platform. The install also incorporates a master timing generator system with GPS time synchronization, and DTS Neural Loudness Control.
The ADC system fully automates the control and playout of program material for six of NDTV's 10 channels across two locations — Mumbai and Delhi. ADC is used to ingest the programs in Mumbai and to manage the playlist in Delhi for transmission. Programming is aired in both English and Hindi, appealing not only to viewers in India but also to expatriates living abroad. The NetVX video networking system provides the international distribution feeds from NDTV into the U.K. and U.S.
"We chose the Harris ONE broadcast solution because it offers the reliability and ease of use we require for our 24-hour, seven-day-a-week playout operation," said Dinesh Singh, head of broadcast operations and engineering at NDTV Group. "Furthermore, we were keen to work with an established broadcast vendor that understood our business model and would be able to support our future growth plans. Another significant driver was the Harris local service and support facility in Noida, which provides easy access to local engineers and fast service response times."
"The Harris ONE solution offers real workflow advantages and cost-efficiencies that are important to the continued success of broadcasters such as NDTV," said Stephen Wong, vice president, Asia-Pacific operations, Harris Broadcast Communications. "We also continue to receive positive feedback from our customers around the world as we take steps to ensure local service and support are easily accessible. This strategy is providing real benefit, particularly in India, one of the world's fasting growing economies."
Harris Broadcast Communications offers products, systems and services that provide interoperable workflow solutions for broadcast, cable, satellite and out-of-home networks. The Harris ONE™ solution brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that enable advanced media workflows for emerging content delivery business models.
