August 24, 2009 - New York, NY - Former Syracuse Orangeman Josh Pace has been selected to the NBA D-League Draft Pool for the 2009 Draft.
Dynasty Sports Management received the news from the league office as officials prepare for the draft which is schedule for the first week of November.
Pace, who just returned from Estonia after winning an Estonian League Championship in June, has received interest from teams in numerous sectors which included the NBA, overseas and now the NBA D-League.
Initially there were nibbles from four NBA teams and over a dozen other teams from Israel, Germany, Australia and the United Kingdom who expressed heavy interest in the veteran guard.
Pace is currently training in Griffin, Georgia to prepare for the 2009-2010 NBA D-League Season which starts on November 27th. Over the next few weeks, he will have interviews with coaches and team officials who have an interest in drafting him. Last summer Pace had tryouts with the Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors of the NBA.
The NBA D-League has produced a number of players to the NBA. Most notably, there were 24 NBA call-ups from the D-League last season.
Players for D-League teams do not sign contracts with the individual teams, but with the league itself. D-League team rosters consist of a total of 12 players, 10 (or fewer) being D-League players and 2 (or more) NBA players.
League officials advised DSM to expect Pace's contract no later then the first week of September in which case he can sign at that time.
