  • (1888PressRelease) March 12, 2014 - FICCI Corporate Social Responsibility Award', which until 2012 was known as 'Businessworld FICCI Corporate Social Responsibility Award' was instituted in 1999. This award aims at identifying and recognising the efforts of companies in integrating and internalising Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into their core business operations. The award recognises efforts of the companies which engage in CSR in a strategic and systematic manner and integrate it with their overall corporate strategy.

    The award winners of 'FICCI CSR Award 2012-13' in the public and private sectors include GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited, Cairn India Limited, NTPC Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Nature Bio-Foods Limited, Elin Appliances Pvt. Ltd. and ACC Limited.

    '4th Wheel' publication titled, 'Shaping India's Development Story-CSR ideology and investment' which was released by Mr. Arun Maira, Member Planning Commission, Government of India, in the presence of Mr. Sidharth Birla, President of FICCI and Mrs. Rajashree Birla, Chairperson, FICCI CSR and Community Development Committee, at a function to felicitate the winners of 'FICCI CSR Award 2012-13'.

    Mr. Tapan Ray (MD & CEO, NBFL) -The Consistent work performance of Nature Bio-Foods Ltd.(NBFL) helped in changing the lives of the tribal communities in an area of 6550 ha land spread across 09 villages in Harrai block of Chhindwara as Nature Bio-Foods Ltd is working with MP government through Public Private Partnership for the implementation of Integrated Watershed Management Program (IWMP). An amount of Rupees 78 million will be spent on this project to develop the structures to store rain water & to improve the ground water table for the utilization in agriculture and domestic use of the villagers. This project not only solving irrigation issues but also farmers are getting market through NBFL.

    Along with water harvesting structures, tribal families were organized in to the watershed committees for proper water use and further market linkages for their produce. 58 Self Help Groups have been formed for micro financing, Convergence through different government schemes is another major activity is being under taken to bring maximum benefits to the farmers. NBFL as a Project implementing agency (PIA) undertaking community based sustainable development activities in the project area by integrating various government schemes and own expertise. This project is continuously improving the socio-economic condition of the farming community.

    According to Mr. Abhijeet (Production Manager,NBFL) - 1346 farmers, 89 villages were organized into 29 groups in haridwar, Ramnagar & Bahraich district under the Fair Trade project. FT is a social trading practice where final producers and consumers interest is protected. Formation of the community groups (Elected Executive Body) is done to ensure the long term sustainability of the project even after the withdrawal of the company support. So far, farmer associations have received around 19 Lakhs as Fair Trade premium & the same is being utilized in various community development activities. Farmers are getting fairer price for their produce,becoming more and more aware about modern agriculture techniques and organic farming practices and the premium amount is helping them to solve their community welfare problems. It created the winning model for the farmers.
