National Missing Children’s Day - Sunday May 25th

The Vanished Children’s Alliance Commemorates National Missing Children’s Day.

San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) May 21, 2008 - On May 25, 1979, six year old Etan Patz disappeared on his way to school in New York City and consequently was never found. In 1983, May 25th was declared National Missing Children’s Day by President Ronald Reagan. Every 40 seconds a child goes missing and out of the 35,000 cases the Vanished Children’s Alliance have assisted with, 90% have been located. That percentage may be high, however there are still many children that need to be recovered.

We need the nation’s help to recover and locate missing children. By publicizing the 25th of May as National Missing Children’s Day, you, too, can help. The more images and descriptions of missing children we get out to the public, the better the chance of finding our nation’s missing and abducted children.

On this day, we remember both our nation’s missing children and the families that are left behind that struggle with the pain of not knowing where their loved one is or if they will ever see him or her again. Missing Children’s Day not only symbolizes a day of remembrance for those children who have vanished from our homes, but also a day of hope.

Please join the Vanished Children’s Alliance in remembering those children who have gone missing and consider publicizing the 25th of May in memory of all our missing children as a form of donation to help us keep making homecomings possible.

VCA, incorporated in 1981 is a nonprofit 501 ( c ) (3) organization based in San Jose. The VCA provides nationwide and overseas assistance to families of missing and abducted children.
