  • Greensboro-Winston-Salem-High Point, NC (1888PressRelease) April 07, 2015 - The selection recognizes Ryan C. Gehsmann's commitment to excellence in the Lacrosse Community.

Ryan C. Gehsmann began his business in May 2014. After talking with a friend of his about how their old high school needed a summer lacrosse program, he started thinking about how he could form a team and create a program for high school students in the area. Gaining much support from both students and parents, Mr. Gehsmann formed the Greensboro Lacrosse Club, or GLC, shortly thereafter.

"Much of my success is in large portion due to the founding fathers and our respective families," Mr. Gehsmann said about the lacrosse team. "Myself, my brother Greg, Ben Wood, Parker Hendricks, and Jake Johnson have over 50 years of lacrosse experience between us, and we are all lucky to have parents and family members with the business experience and willingness to help us out along the way."

Overseeing the financial aspects of the business, as well as managing the competitive sports travel team come with the territory, and Mr. Gehsmann is working diligently to establish the necessary policies and partnerships, including the recruitment process so that the athletes can get seen by college coaches.

Mr. Gehsmann is inspired by his younger brother Kevin who is not only a great lacrosse player, but who also has committed to play football for Duke University next year. Mr. Gehsmann hopes to earn a great reputation in the community and enable GLC to donate to various charities in the future. One of the charities includes Quench, whose goal is to help provide clean drinking water to those in need. He also hopes to give back to the Greensboro Lacrosse Community in different ways by hosting free youth clinics and eventually a tournament.

Mr. Gehsmann participated in the Texas Pete Culinary Arts Festival, which took place in Winston-Salem this past September 2014. Working directly with the festival manager, Brian Cole, Mr. Gehsmann got the opportunity to see many different angles of the businesses he is involved with. The festival was a huge success and hosted over 30,000 patrons.

Holding a Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Carolina with a focus in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management, Mr. Gehsmann was the vice-president of their Entrepreneurship Club.
