Preferably functional food ingredients should be without colour, taste and smell. That are the wishes of the food customers, not realizing that health is more important than only selecting good tasting food products.
Some of the citrus flavonoids are very good for the health, but they are bitter. One of them is the flavonoid Naringin. It is not possible to produce a white colour and a product without taste, because then it will not be naringin watersoluble and loose their characteristics. There is naringin on the market with a nice whitish colour, but then it is not watersoluble.

Naringin exerts a variety of pharmacological effects such as antioxidant activity, blood lipid–lowering and anticarcinogenic activity. Naringin it is metabolized to the flavanone naringenin in humans. The question now is, what is more important health or taste?
