October 10, 2007 - Dahn Yoga for MS and Similar Conditions, a new DVD release from holistic health and education publisher BEST Life Media, LLC, guides MS sufferers through a workout designed specifically to meet their needs. The program includes a variety of gentle stretching exercises, guided breath work, and simple energy training techniques. Dahn Yoga has been shown effective in ameliorating some of the physical effects of multiple sclerosis, including muscle spasticity and fatigue. Furthermore, the video provides great tips for managing stress and developing greater emotional control and mental focus.
Dahn Yoga for MS came about because of the efforts of one MS patient, Cathy Downie, who began practicing Dahn Yoga at a center in Glendale, AZ, in 2005. After only a few months of practice, she achieved reversal in many of her MS symptoms, gaining more energy, flexibility, and peace of mind through the practice.
Inspired by her own remarkable recovery, Cathy decided to share what she had learned with others. In tandem with the MS Society and the Dahn Foundation, Cathy began to present seminars and classes specially designed for people with MS. Many of her students also improved dramatically, which led to the creation of this video. In fact, all of the students who appear in the video are Cathy’s Dahn for MS students. Cathy says of Dahn Yoga for MS, “The experience has been wonderful. So many people have been limited by symptoms of MS. Through these exercises and massage techniques, I and the members who I have been teaching have truly begun to go beyond our limits.”
Dawn Quaresima, a certified Dahn Yoga instructor based in East Meadow, NY, is the main instructor on the video. As a representative of Dahn Foundation, the non-profit wing of Dahn Yoga, she says, “I am so honored and grateful to participate in this project. I hope it will serve as a bridge to those who can’t practice Dahn Yoga in a traditional center.” 10% of the profits from the sale of this DVD will go to Dahn Foundation, a non-profit organization which seeks to share principles of Dahn Yoga with the general public.
