October 13, 2007 - MOVIE GEEKS UNITED!, a movie-themed talk radio program available for free on the internet and iTunes, will celebrate the Halloween month with a flurry of horror movie icons from “The Hills Have Eyes”, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, “Saw IV”, “Blood Car”, “Nightmare Man” and many more. In addition, they will air a special tribute to director Stanley Kubrick, as well as feature interviews with industry legends like director John Badham.
“This is a spectacular month on Movie Geeks United! for horror fans everywhere,” says Jamey DuVall, producer, writer and co-host of the podcast. “And we’re bringing our listeners insights into seminal talents from different genres as well.”
The month kicks off with director John Badham (October 10 at 10pm EST), whose films “WarGames”, “Saturday Night Fever” and “Short Circuit” went a long way into defining the decades in which they were released. Badham will chat with the Geeks about his new book “I’ll Be In My Trailer”, which demonstrates the delicate art of communication between directors and actors. An exclusive interview with “Wrong Turn 2” actress Crystal Lowe follows.
The Sarasota Film Festival, the eighth largest independent film festival in North America, will be in the spotlight on October 14, as director of programming Tom Hall joins the show to discuss the preparations for next years epic event.
On Sunday, October 21 at 6pm EST, the Movie Geeks pay tribute to one of the most highly regarded directors in the history of the medium, Stanley Kubrick. In anticipation of the special edition DVD boxed set that releases the following Tuesday, ‘Eyes Wide Shut” actress Julienne Davis and cinematographer Larry Smith will participate in the broadcast and share their thoughts on Kubrick the collaborator and unparalleled visionary artist.
Horror movie month kicks off into full gear with Michael Berryman, legendary star of Wes Craven’s original ‘The Hills Have Eyes”, followed by director Alex Orr from the new independent triumph “Blood Car” (October 17 at 10pm EST).
A special salute to the original ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (October 24 at 10pm EST) takes place with cinematographer Daniel Pearl (who photographed the original and the 2003 remake) and David Gregory, the director of “The Shocking Truth”, the definitive documentary on the legacy of this landmark classic. Following this segment, the star of the new film “Saw IV”, Lyriq Bent, will join the Geeks to discuss what is sure to be the hit film of the season.
The Sunday, October 28 broadcast will serve as an early look into this years “8 Films to Die For” series, with “Nightmare Man” Rolfe Kanefsky confirmed and many other series directors pending.
