June 21, 2009 - Shane M. Miller, DVM, DACVS has been named CEO of Mountain Horse Medical Center. Dr. Miller joins surgeon Dr. Sam Hendrix and Dr. Charmie Wright as Mountain Horse Medical Center prepares to open a state of the art equine referral hospital. Dr. Miller has the distinction of being the first Board Certified Equine Surgeon in Utah.
Prior to joining Mountain Horse Medical Center, Dr. Miller served as CEO and Chief of Surgery of Littleton Equine Medical Center (a highly respected equine referral facility in Colorado). He is extremely pleased to be associated with this new venture.
Dr. Miller has an outstanding list of accomplishments. Dr. Miller received his DVM degree from Washington State Univ. in 1992 and performed a one year internship at Littleton Large Animal Clinic Equine Hospital. Dr. Miller completed a residency in equine surgery at the University of California, Davis in 1996. He subsequently returned to Littleton Large Animal Clinic Equine Hospital in 1997. Dr. Miller became board certified in equine surgery from the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1998.
Dr. Miller performs soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries with an emphasis in arthroscopy, laparoscopy and fracture repair. He also has a clinical interest in lameness and pre-purchase exams. He has written several articles in Veterinary Surgery Journal, Equine Veterinary Journal, Journal of American Veterinary Medical Association and many lay journals. Dr. Miller has presented numerous surgical and lameness topics nationally and internationally.
