July 14, 2009 - The Montgomery Mall and its Teen Board will be supporting Feeding America’s Philadelphia chapter by hosting a food drive on Friday, July 24 from 6pm to 9pm in the mall’s Elevator Court.
Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. The mall will be teaming up with the organization to collect non-perishable food items from local shoppers that will be distributed to Montgomery County residents. In return for their generosity, contributors will be given reusable Montgomery Mall shopping totes. Through a donor raffle, contributors will also have the chance to win one of three $50 mall gift cards or one of two free cell phones compliments of Best Buy Mobile.
Feeding America has requested the following items as donations:
- Canned proteins including tuna, sardines, salmon and chicken
- Vegetables
- Shelf stable milk like Parmalat milk products
- Hot and cold cereal and cereal bowls – no sugar added
- Personal hygiene products like shampoo, soap, toothpaste and deodorant
- Chef Boyardee microwaveable bowls
- Individual fruit cups, apple sauce, jello and pudding
- Peanut butter and jelly
- 100% juice boxes
- Boxed raisins
- Campbell microwaveable products
*Please note that only plastic containers or boxed items will be accepted – please do not donate items in glass jars.
The Teen Board will also be displaying duct tape, earth-friendly fashions for shoppers to vote on the best and most innovative fashion design. If shoppers can not make it to the mall during the event times, donors are welcome to drop off contributions at Guest Services any time or date prior to the event.
