October 21, 2009 - On Saturday, October 24, the Montgomery Mall will host its annual, mall-wide Mall-O-Ween event from 4pm – 6pm. Area children ages 12 and under are invited to come out to the mall and debut their Halloween costumes for an evening of trick-or-treating. More than 65 mall retailers will take part in the event with special signs in their store windows to indicate participation. Also, members of Simon Kidgits Club are encouraged to visit the mall’s Elevator Court where they can partake in Halloween-themed activities, crafts and much more.
On Friday, November 6, the mall will welcome Santa to town and debut its brand new Santa set in the Elevator Court. The new set is a Christmas tree forest where Santa will sit under a pergola. From 6pm to 8pm, the mall will host an indoor / outdoor parade and celebration including the U.S. Marines, local fire fighters with fire trucks and more. Liz Keptner, the CBS 3 / The CW Philly 57 Morning Anchor, will join Santa during the parade festivities and will sign autographs while children are waiting to get their photo taken with Santa. SpongeBob SquarePants and Elmo costumed characters will be on-hand for photos opportunities with children and the U.S. Marines will be collecting Toys for Tots. Also, Radio Disney and the Marlyn Abramson New Dance Workshop, an area dance studio with 8 – 18 year-old local performers, will entertain families.
The following day, Saturday, November 7, the mall’s Teen Board will host the annual Holiday / Winter Fashion Show in Macy's Court. The Teen Board planned and choreographed fashion show will begin at 1pm and 3pm. Teen Board members will model the latest fashions from participating retailers such as Delia's, Eddie Bauer and Forever 21.
