MobileCom Launches Mobile Yellow Pages Service

MobileCom, a Jordan Telecom Group member and a telecom leader, has recently launched Mobile Yellow Pages Service to allow subscribers to inquire about any company, commercial and governmental institution via their mobile phones.

(1888PressRelease) July 16, 2007 - MobileCom, a Jordan Telecom Group member and a telecom leader, has recently launched Mobile Yellow Pages Service to allow subscribers to inquire about any company, commercial and governmental institution via their mobile phones.

The service, which is based on one of Javna's applications, basically allows users to inquire about data related to companies listed on the Yellow Pages guide, including telephone and fax numbers, email and postal address.
MobileCom's CMO Jean Michele Shanno said, "MobileCom is keen on offering added-value services that make the lives of subscribers easier and enable them to carry out various tasks via mobile phones, which has become more than voice services."

Shanno added, "We are glad to be working with Javna on employing state-of-the-art wireless applications and putting the best of these services at the disposal of MobileCom's clients. The Yellow Pages will provide the required data instantly. It is a fact that information is most valuable when needed."

For his part, Director of Mobile Media and Hosted Services at Javna Mustafa Naser pointed out that this service is highly important for its positive role in providing much needed information in a timely manner.

"With the abundance of information, we, as users, increasingly need more practical controls that help us access the piece of information we need as quickly as possible."

Naser said, "Abundance of information is the same as its scarcity unless it is filtered and categorized in a way that allows users to access the information they want without inconvenience. Providing comfort to mobile phone users prompted us to create practical solutions that guarantee supplying them with the required data and insures transmitting them to them at the location and time they desire. Hence the idea of developing a mobile yellow pages guide to enrich the value-added services that telecom companies offer to their clients”.

To enhance the accuracy and proficiency of the search, Mustafa said, users can also limit the margin of the search within a specific geographic area or a certain trade sector. Users can also save the result of their search as a business card in the list of contacts on their mobile phone, and send it to other people.

Although the idea of Yellow Pages was launched as early as 1883, they are still a key marketing tool used worldwide, playing a significant role as a bridge linking vendors and buyers.
