MMR to organise a seminar on innovation in foundry industry

A seminar titled ‘Innovate Today for Better Tomorrow’ will be held by Minerals & Metals Review for the fifth consecutive time this year. The seminar will be conducted in association with IIT Mumbai on September 18, 2009, at IIT Powai, Mumbai. It will be held following the IIT’s four-day event on ‘Casting Design and Simulation’ scheduled from 14-17 September 2009.


(1888PressRelease) September 08, 2009 - Mumbai - Technology and innovation in foundry industry have been into immense discussion in recent years because of their role in helping the companies to take their businesses to new heights. Several factors point to the need to invest in creating new knowledge and provide the infrastructure necessary to support innovation in the industry.

In response to this interest, a seminar titled ‘Innovate Today for Better Tomorrow’ will be held by Minerals & Metals Review for the fifth consecutive time this year. The seminar will be conducted in association with IIT Mumbai on September 18, 2009, at IIT Powai, Mumbai. It will be held following the IIT’s four-day event on ‘Casting Design and Simulation’ scheduled from 14-17 September 2009.

The respected dignitaries to be present at the seminar include Dr. P N Bhagwati, Chairman & MD, Bhagwati Spherocast Ltd., Subodh Panchal, Managing Partner, Kastwel Foundries; Dr. K Gnanamurthy, Foundry Consultant; Mr. Gautam Mukhopadhyay, VP-Foundry, Orkla India Pvt. Ltd and Mr. M R Shah, Publisher/Editor, ‘Foundry’ Magazine. The seminar is segmented mainly into three sessions viz; Plenary, Technical Session I and Technical Session II. The eminent authors will impart their valuable knowledge on topics like innovation, technology, R&D, entrepreneurship and equipment. It will address the short-term as well as long-term prospects and scenarios confronting the foundry industry. It would also unravel the force behind the innovation in foundry industry – technology.

To make it more practical from the academic point of view, the seminar will conclude with ‘Student’s Session’, where students will present their papers for the seminar. The seminar promises to be an informative event, where foundry fraternity will benefit through the valuable insights form the distinguished authors.
