Minicom Launches Three New KVM Products

Minicom introduces several new KVM solutions with exciting features like Virtual Media that expand remote support capabilities in and out of the datacenter!

(1888PressRelease) October 26, 2007 - Jerusalem, Israel – Minicom Advanced Systems is proud to announce the launch of three new KVM products, the Serial Remote Power Switch (Serial RPS), Smart 116IP, and the PX.

Serial Remote Power Switch - for Secure and Faster Data Center Management
Seamlessly connected to Minicom’s IP Control, the Serial RPS allows the user to power on, power off and reboot up to 128 remote connected servers using the same client interface used to access and control them.

According to Benny Hayumi, Minicom’s Product Manager, “The Serial RPS adds power management to the range of IP Control’s functions making it a complete all-round solution. Now an IT administrator or data center operator only has to navigate one interface where previously there were two. This means more secure and faster resolution of server problems, less downtime, better use of IT resources and reduces the chances of errors being made.”

A leading innovator and manufacturer of KVM switches and KVM/IP access solutions for the SMB and data center environment, Minicom utilizes serial capability, to allow the Serial RPS to seamlessly connect to Minicom’s IP Control. The pre-configured plug and play device ensures an easy installation.

Smart 116IP – A Digital KVM Switch
With an easy-to-use interface that makes it simple to navigate, the rack mountable, 1U sized digital switch features innovative ROC (RICC on Cable) dongle technology that connects the Smart 116 IP to each server in the rack. The Smart 116 IP also features the highest level security encryption, guarding corporate data through remote access while giving access and control over mixed platforms, including PS/2 and USB.

“The Smart 116 IP can be operated seamlessly under Minicom’s KVM.net global centralized KVM server management system – making it the ideal digital KVM switch for forward minded corporations that require a versatile, high-performance KVM switch today, and looking to centrally manage their globally distributed servers tomorrow” said Benny Hayumi, Product Manager.

PX - Compact, remote KVM access, directly to your computer or server

The first KVM IP Gateway designed to answer the needs of both data center managers, business administrators and remote support providers. The smart and compact single-port device is the latest cutting-edge IP solution from Minicom, providing secure BIOS level access to computers or servers over a standard Web browser.

The PX is the first KVM IP Gateway to feature a combination of:
• Virtual Media capability – allowing you to mount a local USB or CD-ROM drive to a remote server. Patch management and complete installation of the local operating system can be made without having to be physically present, making it ideal for data center managers and remote support of mission-critical applications.
• Power over Ethernet (PoE) or external power supply – ideal for any power environment.
• Absolute Mouse Support – providing improved performance by eliminating the need for periodic adjustments to mouse synchronization on the target servers.
• Management compatible – through the PX, multiple racks of servers can be managed by Minicom’s KVM.net global centralized server management system, and new servers can be easily and cost-effectively added. The device’s ‘non-blocking’ capability between any number of users and any number of servers makes it ideal for growing data centers running high volumes of user-server traffic.

According to Eran Kessel, VP for Marketing, “The PX sets a new industry benchmark with an unrivaled combination of features that answer any remote server access requirement, and it comes in a device small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. The system is ideal for data centers wanting unlimited access to servers without the delay of ‘blocking’ KVM switches; and it’s BIOS level access with Virtual Media gives remote support service providers or small business administrators an unprecedented level of control, install and download capability to a remote computer or server, freeing the user from the limits of geography and time.”
