April 08, 2009 - Platinum-certified hip-hop star MIMS, already a Billboard No. 1 artist on the strength of his very first single, “This is Why I’m Hot,” steps up to paint a much, much bigger picture in his second Capitol/American King Music album “GUILT.”
The “GUILT” album release party will take place on April 7, 2009 at Citrine located in the heart of Chelsea. DJ Shogun of Headshell Ltd. will grace the turntables throughout the evening. Every music tastemaker and trendsetter will be in attendance for the highly anticipated MIMS’ sophomore album. This event is being sponsored by RHYTHM, premium brand that has been named the Official Good Times Liqueur of the 2009 Kentucky Derby Festival, and Versatile Inc.
MIMS, born Shawn Mims, made the third-biggest jump to No. 1 in Billboard Hot 100 pop chart history when “This is Why I’m Hot” streaked from No. 32 to No. 1. The single sold 1.6 million digital copies and 2.8 million ringtones. The second single “Like This” sold in excess of a half-million digital copies. Music Is My Savior, the first MIMS album debuted in March, 2007 at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 national chart and No. 2 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Rap Albums charts.
