July 13, 2007 - Alba Spectrum Group, subdivision of Scitus Corporation, is increasing its consulting services to downtown Chicago businesses. Our core expertise is Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains. We are strong in customization, integration, reporting data conversion and migration. If you deployed historically such technologies as Microsoft Dexterity, Crystal Reports, eConnect, Integration Manager, SQL stored procedures, Modifier with VBA, FRx reporting, MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SRS) we would be happy to help you with your custom logic advancing, upgrade. In this small article we give you additional highlights on Great Plains technologies:
Great Plains Dexterity. This fundamental technology lays in GP foundation. It provides relatively strong computer platform and database independence. Currently Microsoft Dynamics GP is available on Microsoft SQL Server only, however you may still have old version on Pervasive SQL or Ctree. Dexterity customization technology was very popular in 1990th and in 2000th , we do not recommend it for strategic GP customizations for new customers, as it provides seamless integration into GP security model and user interface
SRS. SQL Server Reporting Services. It may sound as the future reporting platform. Not a secret that earlier GP versions emphasized Crystal reports and a lot of GP clients historically deploy Crystal reports. As SRS and Crystal are definitely competitors, you should expect some billable time to get older Crystal reports converted or redesigned in SRS
eConnect. This is the future. It is written in SQL stored procedures and at this time it allows you, Microsoft Visual Studio.Net C# or VB developer to avoid programming in GP Dex. eConnect encrypted stored procedures have to deal with current Microsoft Dexterity business logic
Integrations. Integration Manager is very powerful tool, which should be intuitively understood by end GP user and is also flexible for GP developer you can advance IM with VBA scripting
Data Conversion. As Microsoft Great Plains was and is Dexterity application, data feeding should be in accordance with Dex business logic and technical peculiarities. Maybe it is good idea to leave it to SQL and Dex professionals
