(1888PressRelease)
July 06, 2007 - Former Great Plains Software Dynamics/eEnterprise, later on renamed into Microsoft Great Plains and in 2005 associated with newly created Microsoft Dynamics (GL, AX, SL, NAV, CRM) brand as Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains. Lets take a look at implementation niche of this MRp product
Financials. GL, AP, RM, Payroll are probably on of the most open and simplest mid-size ERP modules to implement. You as the user have tight control over data conversion and initial balances entry, however if you plan historical data import, please seek professional consultant help
Sales Modules. GP has Sales Order Processing (SOP) module as the recommended approach for new customers. If you are in eCommerce field you should also consider SOP (please be aware that Invoicing module is not supported in GP eConnect)
Purchasing. If you plan to implement robust Requisition Management, you should consider MS Dynamics GP Business Portal implementation first. BP replaces eRequisition with BP Requisition Management. BP Requisition Management Purchase Request goes to GP POP Purchase Order Processing
HR & Payroll. Again we would like to redirect you to Microsoft Dynamics GP Business Portal HR and Employee Self Service modules
Business Portal platform. With Microsoft Dynamics GP Business Portal 2.5 and 3.0 we, as MBS implementation partner would recommend you BP implementation in production environment. BP is now base in MS .Net platform and could be extended in MS Visual Studio.Net C# or VB. In the case of Great Plains eConnect is keyword for your developers to be familiarized with
Bracoding. As extension to SOP and Warehouse management, barcode in GP should be considered as Great Plains Dexterity ondemad customization
SQL Scripting. GP is open (this is not the case when you implement Axapta or Microsoft CRM, where you are banned from using SQL stored procedures and views)
Web Interface. BP is web application, and we expect GP move to web interface this will meat that fat client or Dex applications will be in the future rewritten in .Net or simply in Jasascript. This statement might be too overstated and optimistic, make your homework, please, probably old-ood-days-dex is the way to go into the future?
