September 16, 2009 - McDonough Holland & Allen PC, a leading Northern California law firm representing both public and private sector clients, adds Thomas Mouzes as the newest shareholder in its Real Estate Practice Group, where he complements the banking, finance and distressed assets practice. A 25-year veteran attorney with two decades of experience representing financial institutions in the enforcement of creditors’ rights, Mouzes joins McDonough after managing his own firm, Hauser and Mouzes, PC.

Mouzes co-founded Hauser and Mouzes 17 years ago, where he focused on assisting financial institutions, such as commercial banks and Farm Credit System lenders, in creditors’ rights litigation cases brought in both state and federal courts, including commercial and agri-business loans, inventory financing, real estate and construction financing, bankruptcy and reorganization, lender liability, water law, guarantees, and provisional remedies. His experience also includes representing banks and lenders in Chapter 11, 12 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings, as well as municipalities in Chapter 9 proceedings. Mouzes’ trial experience also extends to individual plaintiff matters, and he has achieved successful outcomes for clients in complex medical malpractice, professional liability, personal injury and civil rights lawsuits. Prior to co-founding Hauser and Mouzes, Mouzes practiced at the Sacramento office of Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro (formerly the banking law boutique firm, Boyden, Cooluris, Hauser & Saxe), and Diepenbrock, Wulff, Plant & Hannegan. He is a frequent speaker on foreclosure, bankruptcy and other solvency issues.
An active member of the local community, Mouzes has served four terms as president of the Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Elk Grove, Calif., has served on numerous committees related to real property development in South Sacramento County, and has been a member of the State Bar of California Agricultural Subcommittee.
Mouzes earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (1981) and his B.A. in political science from the University of California, Davis (1978).
