Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease)
March 27, 2007 - It was recently announced that May 14 will mark the next rate increase by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), as it was just approved by the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors (BOG). The case has been left open in a “pending” state in case of revisions before the actual implementation.
As it stands, it is expected that the raise in postal rate will only be impacting Standard Mail flats – the type of mail used for catalogs and similar packages – which means that regular mail won’t be impacted, but advertising through the mail will be more expensive.
The increase recommended by the PRC will be up to 40 percent for some catalog mailers. It is expected by the BOG that there will be a certain rate shock in the catalog industry, and it is hoped that before the May 14 implementation date, some revisions will indeed be made.
Periodicals may also be seeing an increase, but the BOG has delayed this implementation to July 15th in the hopes of some reconsideration. Initially both implementations were supposed to occur on July 6th, but it was considered to be too much all at one time.
It is expected that this will be received in a rather unpleasant way by businesses – especially smaller businesses – that depend on catalog mailers as a primary part of their marketing strategies. Advertising budgets will need to raise heavily in order to compensate for the increases.
Fortunately for the businesses in Chandler, Arizona, however, there is an effective alternative available at the ChandlerChamberCommunity.com website, where Chandler Chamber of Commerce members are able to profit from the advertising that comes as a natural part of their membership in the website’s online shopping mall.
ChandlerChamberCommunity.com members receive exposure that would otherwise cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars in advertising; allowing them to sidestep this postage increase altogether.
