February 14, 2008 - For the very first time in Indonesia from 4th to 17th May 2008, the Living World Series by Award winning artist JU MING (b. 1938) will be exhibited at the Museum Nasional (National Museum). Jointly organized by the museum and iPreciation, 33 painted wood sculptures (2002 – 2007); including five major life-sized sculptural wood works created in 2002 and 2007 as well as ten carefully selected collages (2005 – 2006) will be showcased!
Ju Ming’s Living World series is a vibrantly colourful celebration of the joy of life and culture in the fast moving contemporary society. The series took form following a move by the artist to New York in 1980s and since then, the lively sculptural works and collages from this series have captured the attention of a global audience for their interpretive freedom and creative idea.
Ju Ming has exhibited internationally in galleries, museums and open spaces around Asia, USA, and Europe, including London’s South Bank Centre, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Buckinghamshire’s Milton Keynes Sculpture Park, Lange Voorhaut in The Hague, Place Vendome, Paris, Singapore Art Museum and National Art Museum of China. This inaugural display of Ju Ming’s Living World series in Indonesia will be an exhibition not to be missed!
