Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) March 07, 2009 - Marx Layne & Co., a Detroit-based marketing and public relations agency, attended the third annual Michigan Wind Conference, held March 3-4 in Cobo Center in downtown Detroit. The conference, sponsored by the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association, featured presentations on wind energy development, including discussions on Michigan manufacturing capacity and jobs potential.

Michael Layne, Marx Layne’s managing partner, had the opportunity to make filmed interviews with a number of key executives who are playing significant roles in current wind energy development, including representatives of companies that are already investing in wind projects in Michigan and in other states.

According to Denis DesRosiers, vice president, information technology & facilities CIO for ITC Holdings Corp., “We think there’s a great potential in western Michigan, in the thumb region and offshore to deliver renewable energy where people actually need it.”

Dennis Marvin, communications director for Consumers Energy, says, “We plan to spend about $6 billion over the next five years in alternative energy and demand management programs, in Smart Meters, and other things. We’re bullish on investing in Michigan, creating jobs and bringing new industries here.

Jim Nichols, a life-long farmer and currently manager of a wind farm in Lake Bend, Minn., says, “On my farm, we generate about 5.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, enough to power over 500 homes. The energy is up there blowing around, we just have to learn to use it.”

The streaming video spontaneous interviews are currently available for public viewing on Marx Layne & Co.’s web site: http://www.marxlayne.com/news/
