February 08, 2008 - A British boxer has claimed that he became enlightened in prison 25 years ago.
Ozay Rinpoche, who currently lives on the south coast of England, says that he was being held at the time in solitary confinement in Dartmoor prison in southwest England.
"I was locked up twenty-three hours a day," says Ozay.
After remembering a magazine article about meditation, he decided to try it out for himself.
With all the time in the world on his hands, he was able to meditate for up to four hours at a time.
Ozay Rinpoche says that he kept silent about his experiences for twenty years.
Now he has written a book titled Freedom which has been published by Eremitical Press in the United States.
