December 04, 2007 - Los Angeles, CA -- New Orleans Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis is still makeup artist of choice for many even if she didn't rebuild her store after Hurricane Katrina. On Monday, Gomez-Duplessis will be working with TV and radio host veteran Larry King and Brad Pitt. King will be in town interviewing Pitt about the project "Make It Right" that is being launched by New Orleans most popular new couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in the Lower Ninth Ward.
Gomez-Duplessis has been very busy working harder than most makeup artist to keep her name out there in the beauty and entertainment industry. She has just completely a tour with L'Oreal Cosmetics, appeared on TV shows such as "How Do I Look" on the Style Network and The Tyra Banks Show on CW. Gomez-Duplessis recently worked with New Orleans Saints Player Reggie Bush for a photo shoot on a private plane and with ESPN for two days as they covered a recent game here in New Orleans at the super dome. Gomez-Duplessis was also the makeup artist of choice for Football player Brett Favre for his photo shoot and ad campaign at his home in Hattiesburg, MS. Gomez-Duplessis said "when my agent called me with the assignment I didn't know who he was and when I told my husband that I would be going out of town for two days to work an assignment in MS on some ball player name Favre (pronouncing his last name wrong) my husband almost chocked asking me to repeat what I just said".
Working with Los Angeles Entertainment reporter Maria Menounos and weekend co-anchor Tony Potts of Access Hollywood, Susan Taylor editorial director and Angela Murray editor-in-chief with Essence Magazine, R&B singer Usher, People Magazine, LA executive Chef G. Garvin of "Turn Up The Heat" even Louisiana Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu just to name a few and locally you have seen lots of her work in Gambit Weekly both their fashion spread L' Image & CUE magazine. With that said her talent to paint faces has made Gomez-Duplessis the most sought after artist in New Orleans when media comes to the city.
Some days it's hard when I don't have a location to go to and everyday I get asked when will you reopen but commercial spaces are so expensive and the city doesn't make it easy for small business owners like myself. I have even played with the idea of relocating to Los Angeles. A lot of people can't believe that I am having just as hard of a time rebuilding because I use to do makeup for the mayor for his talk show before Katrina and because of all the connections I have in the city. I am looking into leasing space inside another boutique or a hotel that way overhead won't put me in debt and it gives me options to travel. I doubt all my clients are back so the new location doesn't have to be as big as the old Magazine St. location. At this point, just give me a warehouse, I'll foxy it up and my clients will come. They just want me to do their brows, lashes and makeup and they just want my products. They tell me all the time they don't care what it looks like, they just want me to reopen BGD Beauty Bar says Gomez-Duplessis.
