Lunarline, Inc. Introduced The Enterprise Architecture Security Protection Profile At The Eighth Annual Federal Information Assurance Conference

Lunarline, Inc. introduced a method for addressing information security and privacy issues at the 2008 FIAC Conference.

Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) December 13, 2008 - Lunarline, a leading provider of Information Assurance and Training solutions for government agencies and fortune 500 companies led a session at the Federal Information Assurance Conference (FIAC) which introduced a methodology for addressing information security and privacy as it relates to the Federal Enterprise Architecture(FEA).

The session, titled Enterprise Architecture Security Protection Profile, focused on a straightforward process for selecting security and privacy controls during design of architected solutions. This methodology, initiated by the Federal CIO Council and in collaboration with NIST, introduces the Federal Enterprise Architecture Security & Privacy Profile (FEA SPP) tool which integrates the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) allowing users with the ability to understand and select information security controls relevant to the system or process risk associated with the mission of the Agency. The tool is currently being updated to handle all security controls used in the Federal Government to include Federal Civilian, Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intelligence Community (IC).

Mr. Waylon Krush, CEO of Lunarline Inc. states, “The FEA SSP incorporates the most recent changes in Information Assurance guidance and C&A transformation enabling the introduction of risk based decisions and controls early in the SDLC creating cost effective and efficient controls during design process.”

The session was given to a “standing room only” crowd of Enterprise Architecture, Information Technology and Information Assurance professionals. "The most important part of the session was the information exchange and ideas that came about as part of the Questions & Answers," said Trevor Goering, Lunarline VP of Business Development. Based on the discussion the next revision of the EA SSP tool will incorporate more controls, improved searching and adaptability to the upcoming C&A Transformation guidelines being introduced by the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS).

The 8th Annual Federal Information Assurance Conference (FIAC 2008) was held at the Ronald Reagan Building/International Trade Center in downtown Washington, DC from October 27-29, 2008. The conference will focused on discussing the Federal Government's National Cyber Security Initiative by offering explanations, timetables, and exploring the effects on Federal Government agencies and their employees of the President's comprehensive plan.
