June 18, 2009 - In a survey conducted by Indian Express Group on “Universities- establish after 2000”, LPU has been ranked no 4 with A++ rating. The parameters of rating included Placements, Infrastructure, Human Resources/ Intellectual Capital, International relations and Industry interface. The data for the study was collected by Indianvision.us. Apart from being ranked no.1 in infrastructure, LPU has also been ranked no.3 in Intellectual property and Industry interface and no.4 in Placements and International relations.
Census of 2001 recorded Punjab’s literacy rate to be between 64-71% when nation’s was 65.38%. This depicted that the rich state was on way to development, but the scenario varied slightly when it came to education. The presence of self financing educational institutes and universities was a known phenomenon in South; but it was only recently that the trend picked up in North, other than NCR. Punjab, which has invariably featured in various surveys as the richest state, has never been on students’ radar aiming for education in prime institutes. Recently, this trend too has been reserved by emergence of private players in the field, who have provided the state a respectable stand in educational arena.
Lovely Professional University has also earned distinction of being one of the most bankable names in professional education with many honours to its credit. ‘Business India’ has credited a management institute associated with A++ ranking. Business Barons has ranked it as the third best university for enrolling in further studies. In another survey, The Times of India has ranked it as the sixth best engineering private university in North zone and the 16th in the country. Business Barons has ranked LPU’s B-School as 29th best brand of B-School in India.
These proud rankings achieved by LPU has been accorded to it by judging its performance on various counts vis-à-vis faculty resources, academic excellence, international exposure, job placements, infrastructural facilities and social & environmental responsibilities discharged by the varsity. On the front of faculty resources, LPU earned reputation for having a competent team of 1,500 faculty members and the recent hiring of 200 IIT graduates in faculty made news on national front. Nothing could come in their way of undoubting vision when the varsity placed 2,500 students despite slowdown.
The university scored heavily on count of international exposure with tie ups with more than 15 international universities in USA, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. With a campus of 600 acre, the largest among private universities LPU has emerged a clear leader in infrastructural facilities. The innovative pedagogy added to the academic might of the varsity, like projects of social relevance undertaken by it, adds weight to its social and developmental contribution to society. With all these factors coming together, LPU has well earned its position to be counted among the reputed universities of the country.
LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal says, "Being conferred with so many honors is no doubt a pleasant feeling but we have the tendency of not lettings oars rest in our blood. Our vision goes beyond this as the focus lies on constant improvisation and setting higher goals.” The visionary adds, “Together with my team, I have to constantly set higher benchmarks and beat them within a set time frame. Once we set that momentum, awards will follow." The chancellor, buoyed by the good ranking earned by LPU, expressed strong optimism that they will achieve yet bigger milestones in immediate future.
