  • (1888PressRelease) March 24, 2015 - Serving an exceptional platform for clinicians, researchers, scholars and students; the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences of Lovely Professional University organized today 'National Conference on Recent Trends in Bio-Medical Sciences 2015 (RTBS-15)'. Seven scientific-sessions of the conference were curiously attended by 1000+ Scientists, Laboratory Professionals & Students from across the country. Latest fundamental advances in the field of bio-medical sciences were exchanged extensively.

    Dr Kamaldeep Kwatra from CMC Ludhiana informed about different techniques towards identification and easy remedies for cancer. A valuable study made for early diagnosis of 'Tuberculosis' by scholars from the School of Health & Allied Sciences, Pokhara University (Nepal) also attracted important discussions. Scholars revealed their concern that 'Tuberculosis' is still one of the major health problems in the world with more than 9 million new cases and 2 million deaths each year. These scholars have found one of the biochemical markers that can be used as tool for diagnosis of tuberculosis so as to go for immediate cure. LPU medical students shared their study to determine the bacteriological profile of burns and wounds infection for necessary care.

    Abstracts of 80 Posters published in prestigious Scopus Indexed international journal of Pharma and Bio-Sciences were also displayed. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated the great congregation of intelligentsia from medical sciences for their endeavours to research out novel ideas for the benefit of humanity.

    Dr Param Pal Sahota of PAU Ludhiana discussed about microbiology of drinking water. Regional Representative of ASCP in India Mr Brijesh Kohli provided awareness about the prestigious ASCP certification for laboratory professionals. In between the addressing sessions, important poster session attracted all the participants through important know-how described. Dr Ashvinder Raina & Dr Malkit Singh from PGIMER Chandigarh let all know about advances in biomedical laboratory science and role of medical technologist in hospital surveillance. In the last session, Dr Pankaj Kaul shared ethics in medical laboratory technology.
