Daytona Beach, FL (1888PressRelease)
February 23, 2008 - Seven Kings Holdings, Inc., the premier South Florida marina development and holdings company, announces that Loggerhead Club & MarinaDaytona Beach has received the State of Florida, Department of Environmental Protection “Clean Marina” designation, and will be honored in a Clean Marina Dedication ceremony hosted by The Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Clean Boating Partnership to be held at Loggerhead Club & Marina™ – Daytona Beach, 721 Ballough Road, Daytona Beach, FL, at 12 p.m. on Friday, February 29th, 2008.
The newest Clean Marina award brings a total of eight (8) Clean Marina designations to the ten marinas currently under the Loggerhead Club & Marina brand. The Clean Marina Program (CMP) designation recognizes marinas that are operating in an environmentally conscientious manner, so that Florida’s waterways will remain pristine and safe for future generations.
“We are gratified to be awarded the Clean Marina designation in a program that is instrumental to the future of Florida,” said Raymond Graziotto, COO of Loggerhead Club & Marinas. “Those of us with a passion for clean water and protecting our marine habitat, greatly appreciate the dedicated efforts of the DEP and their Clean Marina program.”
The Loggerhead Club & Marina (TM) brand actively supports and seeks the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) “Clean Marina” status for all their marina facilities, ensuring that water quality will be maintained for new generations to come. Of the remaining two Loggerhead Club & Marina™ facilities not yet designated a Florida Clean Marina, one is currently in the final approval process and the other is currently undergoing construction.
The Clean Marina Program was developed by a partnership that includes the State of Florida DEP, the Marine Industries Association, the Florida Sea Grant Program, and the United States Coast Guard. Through the Clean Boating Partnership, the Clean Marina Program works with marine facilities to adopt environmentally friendly practices beyond standard regulatory requirements.
How is a Marina Designated a Clean Marina ™?
In order to receive the Clean Marina designation, marinas must comply with stringent environmental regulations and meet all Clean Marina Criteria. Clean Marinas adopt safeguards that help keep solvents, sewage and fuel out of the water, while protecting manatees and other marine life who make the waterways their habitat.
Areas in the Clean Marina certification action plan include hurricane and emergency preparedness, fire safety, fueling practices, regulated storage tanks, waste disposal, engine maintenance and repair, boat cleaning, painting, storm water management, landscaping, used petroleum and other products, fish waste, sewage, sensitive habitat and endangered species, environmental management, marina environmental quality and extra credit for innovative service that protects water quality. A completed certification package must be submitted for review to the Florida Department of Environmental protection.
