September 08, 2007 - A suburban Boston chiropractor is reaching out to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, by giving them something to watch. Dr. Howard Austrager, owner of MetroWest Spine Clinic and Spinal Decompression in Framingham, has been collecting DVD’s and sending them to troops in the war zone.
Dr. Austrager says he found out about it through a program called Operation DVD (http://www.operationdvd.net). “There is a huge demand for movies among our soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen”, says Dr. Austrager.
“There is a lot of downtime there. Despite the fact it’s a war environment, when you get away from the conflict you need time to regroup and time to relax. And from what Operation DVD has told me there is a never ending need. They are always getting more names of people looking for movies than they can possibly fill.”
Dr. Austrager says the thank you letters from the soldiers show that they’re grateful for anything that connects them to people back home. He is hoping other people and groups will start gathering DVD’s too. He says soldiers like to watch just about everything, and the movies can either be brand new or used, but in good condition.
As a special incentive for those wanting to support the troops, Dr. Howard Austager is currently offering his first office visit free of charge to anyone looking into chiropractic and how it might help them.
This first visit will include the consultation, examination, and the first treatment, a $125 value, for FREE in exchange for the donation of two DVD’s, either new or used, to the “Support our Troops” Operation DVD campaign at MetroWest Spine Clinic.
“This way they can make an informed decision about their health care, and it doesn’t cost them anything.”
Dr. Howard Austrager is located at 235 Walnut Street, Framingham, MA 01702. He can be reached by telephone at (508) 620-1585 or at his website www.metrowestspineclinic.com .
